Droga5 Melbourne, part of Accenture Song, has recently promoted Hugh Gurney and Joe Sibley to the role of Executive Creative Directors. This announcement comes after the departure of Ant Keogh, the previous Chief Creative Officer, who is set to launch a new agency next year with former CEO Paul McMillan and CSO Michael Derepas.
Hugh and Joe have been with the agency for over seven years, initially joining as part of the senior creative team. They were promoted to joint Creative Directors in late 2020. Throughout their time at Droga5, they’ve helped create some of Australia’s most recognizable and award-winning campaigns. Notable work includes ‘Weather Anything’ for Macpac, ‘Enter Asahi’ for Asahi Super Dry, ‘The Greatest’ for Aussie Beef, ‘You’re Good’ for ahm, ‘England Bitter’ for VB, ‘Camp Pain’ and ‘EOFY WFH $ALE’ for BCF, and ‘Deals You Didn’t See Coming’ and ‘Hello Christmas’ for Telstra.
As Droga5 continues to expand its presence nationally, Hugh and Joe will report directly to Tara Ford, the Chief Creative Officer of Droga5 Australia, and work closely with Milla McPhee, the Chief Strategy Officer, and Matt Michael, CEO of Droga5 ANZ. Tara Ford expressed her confidence in their leadership and creativity, while Matt Michael highlighted their growth within the agency as long-term members of the creative team.
Hugh and Joe are excited about this new chapter, with the duo stating, “Droga5 makes some of the best work in the world, so we jumped at the opportunity.”
Over the years, their work has been recognized at prestigious events like Cannes, D&AD, One Show, Spikes, Clio, New York Festivals, AWARD, and MADC.
This promotion comes just after “The Monkeys” officially became Droga5, aligning with the agency’s goal of making a bold impact with ambitious and provocative work.
