Air Canada takes you where Christmas dreams come true

Air Canada has introduced a magical Christmas story that takes viewers to a place where holiday dreams really come true. The ad, The Pond, tells the story of two sisters eagerly waiting for their backyard pond to freeze so they can finally skate and play hockey. One evening, while gazing at the stars, one sister makes a heartfelt wish on a shooting star. To their surprise, an Air Canada plane appears in their backyard and takes them on a magical journey to Santa’s workshop at the North Pole.

The next morning, the sisters wake up at home, wondering if it was all a dream. But when they find a bottle of holiday magic from Santa, they use a single drop to transform their pond into a sparkling, icy rink. The heartwarming story highlights family, Christmas magic, and the power of belief.

Andy Shibata, Air Canada’s Vice President of Brand, shared, “We’re always proud to weave wonder into our holiday stories, bringing families and friends closer together. The Pond not only reflects our passion for hockey but also our commitment to gender equality in sports and aviation.”

Jeremiah McNama, Executive Creative Director at FCB, said, “The Pond is a love letter to winter’s simple joys—watching ponds freeze, lacing up skates, and playing under the glow of holiday lights. For kids everywhere, it’s the ultimate wish come true—a direct flight to Santa’s workshop.”

This 90-second ad continues Air Canada’s tradition of emotional holiday storytelling. It also celebrates the airline’s commitment to empowering women in hockey and beyond. The ad emphasizes how sports bring people together, regardless of age or gender.

The full version will be shown in cinemas across Canada. A 60-second and 30-second version will air on television, while 90-second, 60-second, 30-second, and 15-second versions will be available on social media and digital platforms.

FCB developed the strategy and creative, with production led by Scouts Honour, directed by Kevin Foley. Other creative partners included Tantrum Post for post-production, 456 Studios for color, and 6Degrees for music and sound. Media buying was handled by Initiative and Air Canada Media Desk, and public relations were led by Weber Shandwick.

This Christmas story reminds us that anything is possible when you believe!
