CANNES LIONS and TIMEto Unveil Initiative and Handbook Addressing Sexual Harassment at Festival

Cannes Lions and Time Forge Alliance to Combat Sexual Harassment at Festival

For the first time in history, timeTo and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity have joined hands to address sexual harassment within the advertising industry and offer guidance for a safer festival environment.

The collaborative effort aims to cultivate respect, well-being, and accountability, ensuring all attendees feel secure and empowered to speak up against sexual harassment.

The cornerstone of this partnership, “Celebrating Safely,” offers comprehensive advice and education on sexual harassment prevention at Cannes. Developed in collaboration with Wildstorm PR and NABS, the guide caters to employers, employees, and delegates, offering tailored insights before, during, and after the festival.

In addition to the online resources, the collaboration between Cannes Lions and timeTo will manifest through a robust on-ground presence in Cannes. OOH advertisements, digital screens, and branded merchandise featuring time to messaging will be strategically placed throughout the festival venue.

“Celebrating Safely” addresses various topics, including legal definitions of sexual harassment, grey areas, and resources for organizational leaders to foster a safe workplace culture.

Given the festival’s location in France, the guide also highlights the legal repercussions of sexual misconduct, emphasizing French jurisdiction and applicable laws.

A printed version of “Celebrating Safely” will be widely distributed across Cannes, including at festival venues and select events. Additionally, attendees can access the guide digitally via a QR code throughout and after the festival.

As the Cannes Lions Festival serves as a global hub for creative excellence, the collaboration between timeTo and Cannes Lions signifies a collective commitment to combatting sexual harassment and promoting inclusivity, safety, and integrity in the industry.

Pippa Glucklich, CEO of Electric Glue and timeTo chair, emphasizes the shared dedication to fostering a safe and respectful festival environment, while Frank Starling, chief DEI officer at Cannes Lions, highlights the importance of recognizing and addressing sexual harassment within the industry.
