This holiday season, Harvey Nichols has teamed up with The World of Tim Burton, a globally renowned exhibition, for a festive collaboration that brings Tim Burton’s unique creative style to life. To mark this partnership, the iconic department store has worked with creative studio The Berry and duo-directors The Berry Boys (Ryan Burnham and Luke Robson) to create a whimsical and heartwarming Christmas animation.
The animation follows Robot Boy, who wakes up on a snowy Christmas morning after Santa’s visit and discovers a mountain of presents under the Christmas tree. His metal eyes widen in amazement as he sees the gifts, but he quickly becomes fixated on a delicious Harvey Nichols Mince Pie. Unaware that his power cable is getting stretched, Robot Boy gobbles down the treat, only to spot the largest gift ever across the room. As he dashes toward it, his power cable unplugs, leaving him disappointed. But just as all seems lost, Santa makes a surprise return with an extension cord, and Robot Boy is powered up again to grab the ultimate present, saving Christmas in the process.
Harvey Nichols worked closely with Tim Burton and his team to ensure that the animation captured the distinctive mix of quirky charm and eerie wonder that defines Burton’s work. The animation also features a custom wallpaper design from Burton’s personal archive, adding an authentic touch to the whimsical holiday tale.
The creative team behind the animation, The Berry, utilized advanced CGI techniques, including Cinema 4D, to streamline the production process and create every scene with great detail. From character animation to lighting and rendering, each step of the production process contributed to bringing Burton’s vision to life in a festive, endearing way.
Victoria Bell, Marketing Director at Harvey Nichols, commented on the collaboration: “Working with The World of Tim Burton exhibition has brought a new, captivating spirit to this holiday season. This charming Christmas animation with The Berry has been an exciting journey, and we’re thrilled for our customers to experience the magic of Robot Boy.”
This collaboration between Harvey Nichols and The World of Tim Burton exhibition marks an unforgettable holiday campaign filled with creativity, magic, and a touch of Tim Burton’s iconic dark whimsy.
