Iris Worldwide, a global creative network, has launched an innovative campaign for World, a privacy-first platform that helps people prove they’re human online, without sharing personal information. This new initiative takes aim at the common frustration many people face with CAPTCHA security tests, those annoying image puzzles we often see when trying to verify our identity on websites.
World has developed a solution called World ID, an anonymous way to prove your humanity in a secure and easy manner, without the need for those pesky CAPTCHA tests. With over 25 million users across 160 countries, World is building a human verification network for the age of AI.
The campaign, titled “Real World Captchas,” brings these familiar online challenges into the physical world, setting up oversized CAPTCHA-like image grids in public spaces in cities such as Singapore, Berlin, and Buenos Aires. Passersby are asked to identify real-world objects, such as traffic lights or bikes, in the same way they would on a website. This brings attention to how frustrating and ineffective the current CAPTCHA system has become, especially as bots become more advanced and easier to bypass.
At each installation, there is a QR code that directs people to World ID, where they can easily verify their identity online, without needing to deal with traditional CAPTCHA tests. The campaign’s message is simple: there’s a better way to prove you’re human.
By visually showcasing how outdated CAPTCHA tests have become, the campaign highlights the need for more secure and seamless digital verification methods in today’s internet landscape. It’s a playful yet thought-provoking way to invite people to think about the future of online security, where AI and human interaction need to coexist smoothly.
