Stephen de Wolf returns to Clemenger BBDO as National Creative Head

Clemenger BBDO has welcomed back Stephen de Wolf as their new Chief Creative Officer (CCO), after a brief stint as CCO at BMF. He is returning to the agency where he created some of the most iconic work of his career, including the award-winning “Meet Graham” campaign for the Transport Accident Commission.

Stephen’s return to Clemenger BBDO is more than just a change of job; it’s a reunion with a team that helped define his creative journey. He says, “This is the agency that defined me. Now I get to be part of the team redefining it.” He is excited to rejoin the place where he created some of his most meaningful work and to work alongside people who believe in the power of creativity to drive culture and achieve results.

Stephen will work closely with CEO Lee Leggett to lead the agency into its next chapter. His return aligns with Clemenger BBDO’s ambition to deliver creative solutions that have a measurable impact on business success, all under its new “Do Big Things” slogan.

Lee Leggett explains that Stephen’s return is not just about filling a position; it’s a significant statement. “He’s not just a world-class creative. He knows the heart of this agency and believes in what we’re building. His leadership will help shape the Clemenger of tomorrow,” she says.

Stephen de Wolf has held major creative roles in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, including at DDB Australia, BBH London, and Omnicom’s Smith Street. Throughout his career, he’s worked with leading brands like Samsung, Burger King, McDonald’s, and Porsche. His work has earned global recognition, including a D\&AD Black Pencil, multiple Cannes Lions Grand Prix, and he was ranked the top Creative Director on the Cannes Lions Global Creative Index.

At Clemenger, Stephen’s work helped the agency become the first Australian agency to be named the most creative in the world at both D\&AD and Cannes Lions. Under his leadership, Clemenger BBDO won some of the most prestigious creative awards in the industry.

BMF’s CEO, Stephen McArdle, praised Stephen’s leadership during his time at the agency, stating, “Wolfie is a great creative leader who has helped us maintain the positive momentum we’ve built up at BMF in his short time with us. We wish him all the best as he takes on the challenge at Clemenger.”
