Grey Promotes Sarah Trombetta to APAC CEO, Announces Leadership Changes

Grey, a global advertising and marketing agency, has elevated Sarah Trombetta to the role of CEO for Asia-Pacific (APAC), succeeding Nirvik Singh who is departing the business. Trombetta, a seasoned industry leader with over two decades of experience, previously served as CEO of Grey Hong Kong (2016-2019) and currently holds the position of AMEA Chief Client Officer for P&G within Grey and WPP (2021-present).

In a statement, Laura Maness, Global CEO of Grey, expressed confidence in Trombetta’s ability to lead in the rapidly evolving APAC market. “Sarah’s client-focused leadership, creativity, and commitment to innovation make her the ideal candidate to drive our ongoing reinvention efforts in this crucial region,” said Maness.

Trombetta herself emphasized her deep connection to Grey and her enthusiasm for the new role. “I’m honored to return to Grey in this capacity, driven by a passion to empower our teams and deliver outstanding results for our clients,” Trombetta remarked. She highlighted her previous experience as CEO of a Grey studio and expressed eagerness to leverage her skills to foster growth and deliver impactful work across APAC.

The announcement also included the promotion of Masahiko Okazaki to CEO of Grey Tokyo, effective immediately. Okazaki, previously Chief Operating Officer at Grey Tokyo, brings extensive experience and client relationships to his new role. “I look forward to enhancing Grey Tokyo’s creative standards and driving our agency’s growth trajectory,” Okazaki commented.

Grey Tokyo will see a transition with Yukiko Ochiai stepping down from her role as President and CEO, with plans for her next career move to be announced soon January 2022 from TBWA/Hakuhodo.

Nirvik Singh, who served as Chairman and CEO of Grey Group Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa for over three decades, has not disclosed his future plans yet.

The changes reflect Grey’s strategic focus on leadership continuity and driving innovation across its global network. The agency remains committed to delivering “Famously Effective” work and furthering its creative excellence under Trombetta’s and Okazaki’s leadership.
