Droga5 Rebrands The Monkeys with Mark Green Appointed as New Global CEO

Droga5, the acclaimed creative agency under Accenture Song, has announced the appointment of Mark Green as its new Global CEO. This leadership change marks a significant transition as Green steps into the role previously held by Sarah Thompson. Alongside this leadership shift, Droga5 has unveiled plans for international expansion.

Mark Green, the co-founder and CEO of the Australian creative agency The Monkeys and currently the lead for Accenture Song in Australia and New Zealand, will move to New York City to assume his new role at Droga5 starting October 2024. This transition brings with it the integration of The Monkeys into Droga5, with its offices in Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney joining the Droga5 network on December 1, 2024.

In his new role, Green will collaborate with Pelle Sjoenell, the recently appointed Global Chief Creative Officer, to oversee Droga5’s creative offices globally, including locations in Dublin, London, New York, São Paulo, and Tokyo. This integration aims to leverage Droga5’s global reach and Accenture Song’s extensive tech, design, and data capabilities to enhance client growth and innovation.

This announcement follows a period of notable success for Droga5, recognized for its work with major clients like JPMorgan Chase, Molson Coors, and Tourism Australia. Droga5 has garnered numerous accolades, including being named Agency of the Year multiple times and earning the title of Agency of the Decade by Ad Age and Adweek.

David Droga, CEO of Accenture Song and founder of Droga5, stated, “Droga5’s mission is to deliver creativity deeply rooted in strategy and purpose, creating impactful experiences. Mark Green embodies these principles and will elevate Droga5 to new heights of excellence and influence.”

The Monkeys, renowned as one of Australia’s most awarded advertising agencies, was acquired by Accenture in 2017. Under Green’s leadership, the agency has seen significant growth, including major account wins and global creative recognition. Notably, The Monkeys has won Grand Prix awards at the Cannes Lions for two consecutive years, with recent accolades including the Film Grand Prix for ‘Play It Safe’ and the Titanium Grand Prix for ‘The First Digital Nations.’

Mark Green commented, “Creativity has the power to make a significant impact on business and people. Our blend of creative prowess and technological transformation is a winning formula. I’m excited to lead Droga5 into its next chapter and welcome The Monkeys team to this journey.”

In his new position, Green will focus on leading Droga5 into its next phase of growth while maintaining the agency’s commitment to driving business success and relevance for its clients. The announcement of Green’s successor as the head of Accenture Song in Australia and New Zealand will be made in due course.
