WPP has appointed Cindy Rose as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 September 2025. She will succeed Mark Read, who has decided to step down after nearly seven years in the role. Read will continue to work with Rose through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
Rose comes to WPP with a wealth of experience, having spent the last nine years in leadership roles at Microsoft. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Global Enterprise at Microsoft, where she plays a key role in helping the world’s largest companies leverage digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive business transformation. Before this role, she was the President of Microsoft Western Europe and the CEO of Microsoft UK.
Rose’s leadership experience extends beyond Microsoft. She has held significant positions at Vodafone, Virgin Media, and The Walt Disney Company, where she was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Disney Interactive Media Group, EMEA. Additionally, Rose has been a Non-Executive Director on WPP’s Board since 2019, making her well acquainted with the company’s operations and its strategic direction.
WPP’s Chairman, Philip Jansen, expressed his confidence in Rose, stating that her deep understanding of technology, AI, and digital transformation will be invaluable as WPP adapts to changes in the industry.
