FIN’s Emma Daines Appointed Jury President for LIA’s Production, Post-Production, and Music Video Categories

Emma Daines, the founder, CEO, and executive producer of Fin Design + Effects Sydney, has been named the Jury President for Production & Post-Production and Music Video at LIA 2024. Emma, renowned for her award-winning work, will lead a 10-member jury of top professionals from leading production and post-production houses and agencies around the globe. This year, all judging will be conducted onsite, ensuring complete fairness and transparency with no offsite pre-judging.

The landscape of advertising awards has evolved from merely celebrating ideas to recognizing the complex craftsmanship behind ads. Today’s advanced production techniques and ambitious concepts require a blend of individual skills and expertise to bring each campaign to life.

Barbara Levy, President of LIA, emphasized, “If production and post-production companies aspire to win ‘one of the most spectacular and prestigious statues you can ever have on your shelf,’ as Ogilvy Germany’s Stephan Vogel puts it, they must enter their best work into the Production and Post-Production categories.”

Reflecting on iconic campaigns, the Guinness “Surfer” ad, which debuted 25 years ago, remains a landmark in advertising history. Celebrated as one of the UK’s best commercials, it seamlessly combines elements from Herman Melville’s ‘Moby Dick,’ Walter Crane’s painting ‘Neptune’s Horses,’ and Leftfield’s track ‘Phat Planet.’ The ad’s success can be attributed to its meticulous production, where every detail—from the dramatic waves to the synchronized drum beats—perfectly aligns to create a compelling narrative.

Top creatives consider this ad a masterclass in originality and craft, executed groundbreakingly. The agency and production teams’ ability to “take the drop,” like a surfer timing their wave, has contributed significantly to their continued success.

Entries for LIA 2024 close on August 30, 2024. Don’t miss the chance to showcase your outstanding work!
