GOVT Singapore refreshes senior management team with new appointments and promotions

GOVT Singapore, a creative agency, has made significant changes to its senior management team to promote growth and bring fresh energy to the company.

Phang Mei Jeng (MJ) has been appointed as the new Managing Director. Phang comes from Ensemble Worldwide/Mediabrands Content Studio in Malaysia, where she worked for seven years and rose to the position of Managing Director. Before that, she was the Business Director at BBDO Proximity China. She has worked with major global brands like PETRONAS, Pizza Hut, Visa, OPPO, Ford, Gillette, Braun, and Toyota. Phang takes over the role from Alvina Seah, who will continue as a Partner within the GOVT group.

In addition, Kevin Poh has been promoted to Executive Creative Director (ECD). Kevin, with over 20 years of experience, has worked with GOVT for seven years in total. He has led creative work for big brands such as Sentosa, Julie’s Biscuits, Puma, and Asahi. Kevin steps into the ECD role, taking over from Tim Chan, who is now the Chief Operating Officer at The Betterment Group, GOVT’s parent company.

The agency also welcomes Khoo Kai Qi as the new Client Services Director. Khoo brings over 13 years of experience working with top local and international brands at agencies like Publicis, JWT, Tribal DDB Worldwide, and Moon Rabbit Singapore. She has led government campaigns such as those for the Singapore Army, Ministry of Communications & Information, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Ministry of National Development.

The CEO of The Betterment Group, Leon Lai, shared that these changes aim to keep the agency dynamic and energetic by bringing in fresh talent and promoting seasoned professionals like Kevin to bigger leadership roles. These changes will allow the co-founders to explore new opportunities for the group and its agencies, with exciting plans ahead.

These appointments come as part of a broader trend in the industry, where many agencies are making strategic leadership changes to enhance their capabilities and drive growth.
