Qatar Airways’ New Safety Video Featuring Kevin Hart

Qatar Airways has launched a new in-flight safety video that brings a fresh, entertaining twist to traditional pre-flight briefings. Starring comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who is also the airline’s new Global Brand Ambassador, this safety video aims to capture passengers’ attention in a way that’s both fun and informative.

The video kicks off with a humorous conversation between Kevin Hart and the “Q Boss” (presumably the airline’s CEO, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer), where they critique traditional safety videos as “uninventive, unimaginative, and boring.” Hart is then tasked with creating the world’s greatest safety video, which sets the tone for the comedic approach that follows.

Over the next seven minutes, Hart takes passengers on a lively journey, filming in various iconic global destinations such as Paris, New York, Sydney, Nairobi, and Qatar. His fast-paced, energetic delivery makes safety instructions feel more like a comedy sketch than a standard briefing. Hart’s approach to safety includes shouting out instructions like “Get your stuff out of the aisle!” and offering humorous, yet clear, reminders of vital safety procedures such as putting on your oxygen mask before helping others.

While Kevin Hart leads the show, the video also features several star-studded cameos. Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley makes an appearance, helping Hart reach the overhead lockers in a lighthearted moment that underscores the importance of storing luggage safely. TikTok sensation Khaby Lame, known for his silent humor, adds a visual touch of comedy without saying a word. Internet personalities Anwar Jibawi and his mother Amal bring a comedic yet informative demonstration on how to properly fasten seatbelts.

Despite the humor, the video doesn’t shy away from emphasizing essential safety rules. Hart humorously reminds passengers to keep their seatbelts fastened and stresses the importance of not smoking during the flight. In one particularly funny moment at a Paris restaurant, Hart addresses a passenger trying to light a cigarette, joking, “You know that stuff makes your breath smell like a butt-tray.”

This creative approach comes as airlines face the challenge of ensuring that passengers, often distracted by personal devices, are paying attention to important safety information. Qatar Airways recognized that traditional safety videos were often ignored, so they decided to capture attention with a star-studded, entertaining video that passengers are unlikely to overlook. CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer explained that the goal was to create a safety video that would “engage passengers and make them pay attention,” noting the importance of using familiar faces to get the message across.

The new safety video will first appear on select Qatar Airways flights starting in December 2024, with plans for a full rollout across all routes by January 2025. Directed by Hollywood filmmaker Tim Story, known for movies like Fantastic Four and Taxi, the video promises to be a standout feature on the airline’s flights.

With its unique blend of humor, high-profile cameos, and crucial safety instructions, Qatar Airways’ new safety video is set to make an impression on travelers, offering a fresh, engaging way to communicate important information while ensuring passengers are entertained and well-prepared for their flight.
