Suzanne Kim Joins The Sweetshop Asia as New Director

The Sweetshop Asia has officially welcomed acclaimed director Suzanne Kim to its roster. Known for her bold visual style and emotional storytelling, Suzanne brings a fresh creative energy to the team. Her work blends cinematic beauty with human connection — making each project feel powerful yet intimate.

With roots in music videos and documentaries, Suzanne has a natural instinct for storytelling. She is especially skilled at short-form content, where she weaves strong emotion and narrative into every frame.

Penny Woo, Executive Producer at The Sweetshop Asia, shared,
“Suzanne is a director we’ve admired for a long time. Her work shows vision, clarity, and boldness — paired with emotional intelligence. She brings something new and inspiring to our team in Asia.”

Recognised by Vogue Australia as one of the “New Class of Australian Female Directors To Know,” Suzanne has directed for leading global brands like Apple, Samsung, Hyundai, Jordan, and P&G. Her work has been honoured at top international festivals including Cannes Lions, SXSW, and The Clio Awards.

One standout example of her storytelling is her short film Let The Neon Lights Dance, which was inspired by a brief encounter with an elderly woman in Seoul. The film is praised for its emotional depth, poetic visuals, and subtle honesty.

Speaking about her new role, Suzanne said:
“What I admire about The Sweetshop is their focus on meaningful storytelling, not just visuals. There’s a sense of care in how they approach both the work and the people — and that’s rare to find.”

Outside of directing, Suzanne enjoys cooking, hunting for books to expand her literature collection, and searching for the perfect Korean dish Sundubu-jjigae, all while listening to obscure film soundtracks.

Suzanne is now available for commercials, branded content, and short films across Asia through The Sweetshop Asia.
