WPP introduces new policy, requiring employees to work from the office four days a week starting in April

WPP, the global advertising giant, has announced a major change to its work policy. Starting from April, all employees are required to work from the office at least four days a week. This decision was communicated through a memo from WPP’s CEO, Mark Read, who emphasized the importance of in-person collaboration for the company’s success.

WPP has around 110,000 employees worldwide, including those at well-known agencies like Ogilvy, Grey, and VML. Until now, employees had more flexibility with hybrid work policies, but the company has decided that spending more time together in the office will help improve employee engagement, client satisfaction, and overall business performance.

In the memo, Read shared that data from various WPP agencies shows a positive correlation between higher office attendance and better financial results. He also mentioned that many clients are now expecting teams to work from the office more often.

While this policy change may require some adjustments, especially when it comes to office space, WPP plans to carefully manage the transition. The company will continue to offer flexibility for those with special needs or responsibilities, such as caregiving or health concerns.

WPP’s shift to four days a week in-office work reflects the growing trend among large organizations to bring employees back to the office post-pandemic, aiming to foster stronger collaboration, creativity, and relationships in their teams.
